EXERCISE 1: QUANTIFY DATA

prompt: arrange objects (Lego/ buttons/ coins etc)  with relevant indicators written out with pens to help you visualize the quantity and data.

I choose to arrange ‘ Coins’ here as it’s the only objects I have that has such simple yet obvious indicators. Below is the process on how I arranged my quantify data:

pic 1.2 Arranging Data
1.) First thing when I tried to separate the data is by pointing out the obvious differences which are their value (5 sen, 10 sen, 20 sen, 50 sen)

2.) Then, I start to notice the different design in each of it values and also notice the year that each of coins were made. I did a quick research and found out in fact that there are 3 series of Malaysian Coins and the one that I have are came from the second and third series. From this finding, I pretty much already decided on how to arrange my Quantify Data. Means by arranging it highlighting on its value and release series.

    Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H.

prompt: Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy Organize a group of information into a visual poster that combined and utilizes the LATCH principles (min. 4).

I choose Genshin Impact as the game to compile with L.A.T.C.H. properties. Below are the the breakdown information:

    Location: Mondstat, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru

    Time: Patch Out

Category: Cyro, Pyro, Anemo, Electro, Dendro, Dendro, Geo

    Hierarchy: 4* , 5*, Archon

(showcasing the 5+ Character from last update on each region)

    • Mondstat: Eula(1.5), Rosaria (1.4), Albedo(1.2), Diona(1.1), Klee(1.0)
    • Liyue: Yaoyao(3.4), Yelan(2.7), Shen he(2.4), Yunjin(2.4), Yanfei (1.5)
    • Inazuma: Wanderer(3.3), heizou(2.8), shinobu(2.7), Ayato(2.6), Yae(2.5)
    • Sumeru: Al-haitam(3.4), faruzan(3.3), layla(3.2), nahida (3.2), Nilou (3.1)

    2) I try to put every information I’ve got on the Ai Artboard first. I also made the outline

with Shape, Using Pucker & Bloat from a circle shape then altered.
Corners, by adjusting the corners according to image.

    3) I try to make the character indicator that can display the element, time-patch, and rarity. For rarity, I use the approach that in-game use by coloring gold background for 5 star and purple lish color background for 4 star.

    pic 2.7 Process 1#

Ver. 1: I’m just trying to mapping out the information that has to be provided.

Ver. 2: I use the same shape as the outer corners for the information and put background patch number for the readibility and to indicate ‘different information’ with the element on the left side. I also make the right side a lil bit slated to balance out the left space. Gradient also added to make it less cluttered.

Ver.3: I tighten more the space because I feel Ver.2 information are all too high up.

Ver.4: Changing the color actually better for overall readibility.

Below is the final Character Indicators:

    4) After putting all the character in each indicators its time for the poster composition.

    pic 2.9 Process 2#

Draft 1# I’ve earlier categorize the characters on each region they came from. And I don’t really like this first draft as it lack unity and the information seems kinda scattered.

Draft 2# I try to add some shapes and seems like it works to make it more unite. Although the big title and words is kinda bothering. Like there is a feel of detachment with the rest of the poster.

Draft 3# Here I turn the words to be more smaller and play with the composition a lil bit as well. And it looks more unite than before hence why this will be the final draft.
